The piece here is one of the 16 chapters of the 300-page Tony Momoh – Spiritual Essays (pages 245 – 250) listed on the Home Page of this website. It has to do with Barack Obama, President of the United States of America. The piece is meant to illustrate the place of age in man’s manifestation of life in the environment in which he finds himself. The piece was written for use on February 1, 2009 in the Sunday Vanguard in the Point of Order Column which I have written to monitor Nigeria’s practice of democracy since November 1999. As far as ages go, Obama was one day old the day he was sworn in as President of the United States of America. Read on:
Barack Hussein Obama was born in Washington DC at the Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. That birth (see how relative age is), was his inauguration as the 44th President of the United States of America and is easily the most reported and watched event in history.
So, there is nothing new to report about that event. Suffice it to say that from the time I am writing this piece to the time you are reading it, Obama had added more days to his age. And so the clock will continue to tick until the 45th President of the world’s most powerful nation is sworn in, and that will never be later than the day Obama’s tenure ends.
The tenure ends as clearly provided in the Constitution of the United States. But the event brought something new to the world, and that something new can never be just physical. And it is the physical-plus dimension I would like to address because it opens areas you may not accept exist but which objective sensing involuntarily accommodates.
Let me present some pictures to open the vistas we want to share in handling the Obama presence in our midst.
The picture given by Prophet Mohammed Of God’s Creation is vivid and graphic. He asked his followers about heaven and earth. Of course we all believe in heaven and earth and it is our fault if we deny such facts of life. They had already been aware of the seven heavens and that same number of earths (Sura 65 v 12).
The Prophet of Allah asked them if they knew the distance separating the seven heavens and the seven earths. They said they did not and he told them the distance between each of the seven heavens and the seven earths is a journey of 500 years! He did not speak of miles but the years it would take to move from one to the other, using our measuring rod.
I can picture the unbroken reflections of each of these planes from above, from the first heaven to the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh; then far below in the still unbroken flow, the weaker material planes from the first earth closest to the seventh heaven to the second earth, down to the seventh, where we sojourn.
We are not natives of this earth. We are natives of a world above, outside of here, which means that we came from there, even if we have forgotten. We are spirits, from the Spiritual World, from Paradise.
Of spirit, Abd-ru-shin, author of In the Light of Truth, the Grail Message, has this to say, “Spirit is not wit, and not intellect. Nor is spirit acquired knowledge. …Spirit is something entirely different. It is an independent consistency, coming from the world of its homogeneous species, which is different from the part to which the earth and thus the physical body belong. The Spiritual World lies higher; it forms the upper and highest part of Creation. Owing to its consistency, this spiritual part in man bears within it the task of returning to the Spiritual Realm, as soon as all the material coverings have been severed from it (from the lecture, Once Upon a Time, p114 of the Composite Volume of the Grail Message).
The distances Mohammed tells us about can be bridged by us if we are mature enough to have evolved to sense the recognitions from those planes we can reach out to, from within our beings. It means that what should, in practical terms, take 3,500 years to access can be tapped through reaching out to there with our volition, if we have matured enough so to do.
With the picture of worlds which we have traversed to arrive here, it is obvious that those who are here, you and I, are pencils in the hand of one who propels us to download onto this plane what will grow it. That is the plan, for no man is created to be evil.
But because we have a free will as spirits, we exercise this gift to choose, and we have been choosing wrongly, haven’t we? So, there are times when people come who may, can and do make the difference.
Obama came, and is poised to make the difference.
But let me not jump the gun. Let me take you to why I approached this matter this way. Someone sent me a text message on the night of January 20, 2009 when Obama had taken the oath of office. The message had obviously been going the rounds because I also received it from another friend.
It said, “So many years ago, a messiah came to this world to save mankind and they first tried to eliminate him at a tender age but he was smuggled to Africa. Tonight (Jan 20) a messiah has come again, this time from Africa to America. Please join me as we celebrate the great change, the chosen one, the dawn of a new era; the miracle of our own time, the dream come true, the Great Barack Obama. Regards from Sam”.
I sent this reply, “Sam, greetings. Obama’s big ears are, like all antennas, meant to receive messages. May he be guided to receive from the only credible and eternally dependable source – God. Almighty”.
So, there is something about Obama that is clear to those who accept that this distant blue planet in the Milky Way Galaxy of the physically visible world is not the earth that we are told about in the Creation story.
The unbroken flow from above to below here is regulated by law and that law propels beings to areas where they are prepared for ages to serve. Your experiences on earth before you arrive at post, which may not even materialize if you are derailed, are preparations only.
Obama is thus not an accident and in the order of things, in nature, there are no accidents. His father came from Africa, raw and unaffectable by heritages of slavery which draw the enslaved to struggle to achieve the status of those who have been their masters.
So an offspring of a union with a white in America cannot inherit the sensing of non-status that our deprived brothers and sisters there are associated with.
He was born on August 4, 1961 in Hololulu, Hawaii, that part of the States where tribe and tongue may differ, but in brotherhood and sisterhood they stand. His father, Barack Hussein Obama, left his son after two years of his birth, and he had to leave because he had played his role.
If he had taken his son to Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya where he came from, that young boy would never have accessed the opportunity that the environments he needed to mature in would have provided.
Not only did these opportunities take him to Jakarta in Indonesia which harbours the largest concentration of Muslims on earth, he also attended the most prestigious institutions the West can provide — Honolulu’s Panuhou School, Los Angeles’s Occidental College, Columbia University in New York and Harvard Law School in Cambridge.
His movement to Chicago in 1985 to do community organizer jobs could not have been an accident, nor his deliberate and unstoppable walk in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln who as 16thpresident of the United States and one of the most revered, also lived and worked in Chicago in the state of Illinois.
From 1997 – 2002, Obama was in the Illinois Senate and must have been one of the most productive men that passed through the portals of that house. In two years he promoted up to 800 bills and had 282 passed and assented to by the governor of the state!
Where else would you have had such opportunities to be what you can be, but the United States of America where the seemingly unimaginable happens.
So as President of the world’s greatest power, what will Obama do?
Obama’s big ears are meant for hearing and you cannot hear without listening!
He has the whole wide world to listen to because the whole wide world accepts America as the only superpower whose bellowing presence has made the world or attempted to destroy it.
Its financial indiscipline is causing panic all over the place and those who had no business with its lawlessness are in avoidable pain, too.
Obama made a statement at his inauguration which binds him. He said, “The time has come to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness..”
We can only think of what Obama can do. By the use of the awesome powers his office impose on him, Obama can be the world’s town crier, announcing succor to a famished people, or the anti-Christ whose sweep of humanity was predicted.
What he finally becomes is for time to show, but we can put a finger on it, we can predict it.
Because, according to law, he is bound by what he does for America and what he does for or to the world.
And this is a function strictly of where his guidance comes from – from the products of the intellect or in response to the demands of the spirit.
As at now, less than three weeks of his birth as the President of the United States of America, as President OF America and not President FOR Africa, he remains a promise to a world in need of hope and fulfillment.
He has given hope through his birth which the whole world watched on January 20, 2009.
But we must wait, and watch from day to day, month to month, year to year, throughout his tenure so that the world, populated by six billion human beings, not slaves or Muslims or Christians or Jew, or black or white or red or yellow, can from their various perches give testimony that the dreams which Obama dreamt came true or that that guidance on “How to Succeed” downloadedfrom out there, above our punishing intellectual ponderings and pontifications, into here on terra firma, met with the constraining elements that populate it as vested interests.
